Jo's 5th Birthday Party
Written at Sunday, April 26, 2009 | back to top

Hi people!
Hows ur weekend coming along? Mine's great with dinner at my parents, lovingly homecooked by my mum.
Sometimes even the most exorbitantly priced fine-dining in the world doesnt compare to the simple dishes from someone who loves u unconditionally.
:)

Talking about love - it was love all over in Newton 18 where my sweet Jo celebrated... the 5th birthday!

Admittedly, it was a theme party where everyone had to dress up like kids.
Some wore diapers, some came in pigtails and we even had a ballerina!

Jo even gave away goody packs with chocolates & childhood sweets in bags!
Then the REAL 5-year old came and I found Jo's nephews so darn cute playing the zero point!

I wore overalls and wore an ice-cream necklace.
Hee-he.

It was great fun in the middle of the April heat, overlooking a part of Orchard.
I saw some of my old classmates and I really felt young again!

Yes.. we grabbed some soft toys along with us too!
My plus one was a big pink panther actually! But Scooby Doo was quite cute also la, so I took picture with it.
:p

My Minne Mouse babylove..
Its been like wat, 14 years since we knew each other.
I loveee her to bits, its her birthday next month and we're going to party the night away!
Cant wait.
(Though I've quit drinking, Minnie Mouse says she'll force some down my throat~ )

I can see so much better with my candy glasses!
LOL.

It was too bad I had to leave early and missed the cake cutting!
:(

But Happy Birthday Jo, may you enjoy the Big Apple and find all the happiness you truly deserve.
God bless.
:)

Got to go guys, will be working this week - back only on the weekend.

But before I go, here's two quick and easy receipe for smooth glowing skin for both face & skin.
Best of all, these ingredients are found in ur home kitchen and u can do it anytime u wish.
All ingredients are natural but I do recommend u to try it on the back of ur wrist first incase u happen to be sensitive to a certain item.

Its recession time and Im trying to find alternative ways to make a girl feel beautiful.
Afterall, the key to looking good & feeling great doesnt actually need to cost too much!

(But my bags are ANOTHER story arh...)

I advocate a simple, healthy lifestyle fuelled by lotsa love and plenty of laughs.
Try to take things easy and if u find urself stressing out at work, at home - take some time out and do something for urself.

Read a book, do a mask and u will find ur spirits lift. :)
They cost nothing and is definitely the most effective way to be happy.

HOMEMADE SUGAR EXFOLIATE

One Cup Sugar
One Cup Pure Extra Virgin or Virgin Olive Oil

-Mix well.
-Rub all over.
I put a small chair in the bathroom and I sit down n take my time to apply it all over my body, concentrating on dry areas like elbows & kneecaps.

-Rinse with water.
U may use some soap if u cant stand the icky oily feeling, but I would advise u to try to rinse it off with just water becos Olive Oil is a very natural yet moisturising agent.
It is the only oil that doesnt clog pores and allows skin to breathe.
U may even skip moisturiser after.

p.s
Some people would recommend dead sea salt, but I find it too coarse and would be unbearable if u have a cut!

SUGAR FACE SCRUB

One Teaspoon Sugar
One Tablespoon Honey
One Tablet Aspirin (Optional)

A twist to the Honey & Aspirin Mask, this gentle sugar scrub will brighten ur complexion and exfoliate dead skin cells.

-Mix well in palm
-Apply all over face and in circular motions, gently rub.
DO NOT USE FORCE AS SKIN WILL TURN RED.

Wait 3 mins and rinse off.

Carry out normal skin routine but I skip my toner (which has alcohol) becoz it might be too harsh for my skin.
Instead, u may spritze some gentle rose water spray or just use an essence like SKII Facial Treatment Essence, then moisturise as per normal.

I hope u have fun and please dun blame me if ur mother cant find any more sugar in the kitchen!
:p

Take care everyone, enjoy the rest of ur weekend!
Love.

xoxo

TAGS REPLIED!

al: I've tried the La Mer Gel, but I found it so-so for my dehydrated skin. I would only recommend it if u have combi-oily skin types. U may prefer to buy products from Departure Halls becoz u can skip paying GST.
Hths!
:)

magmag: Wahahahhahaha U damn funny la! Where the EMU animal come from ah??!

yixuan: Yes! I love my e71 coz I get to organise my schedule & I can type sms-es with both hands now! Keke.

crystal: Hi babe! Thank u for dropping by. I've done a makeup post sometime ago so maybe u would like to take a look at the detailed explanation & brands that I normally use. However, if u would just like to know what foundation I use, its CHANEL MAT LUMIERE. :)

sassygirl: U're welcome. Do feel free to ask if u would like to know more.

megan: Hi hi!!! *hug* I hope u enjoyed u trip! Got eat n eat until jeans cannot zip anot!! ROFL! Sometimes I eat so much in Japan I come back sick. :P
Ya lor they all dun speak english in the salon one... :( But I do hope u like ur hairstyle! N nooooooo la! I dun wan to show my bags!!! Hahahaha!!!

anon: Aiyo, bu yao ke qi! :D

Adeline: SKII facial wash feels alittle like Hazeline snow, creamy creamy de but I love it coz alittle goes a long way & I like its clean & simple pacckaging.

anon: CONGRATS ON TAKING THE FIRST CHANEL STEP! Welcome to the club!! Wahahahaha!
Ok, seriously now... :P I would recommend u buy the BLACK CAVIAR 255. Black is timeless and it doesnt stain (Beige does!) - Caviar is more lasting and it is more hardy. (Lambskin looks great but is prone to scratches.)
But ultimately please buy what u really like.
There is no point buying something that everyone likes but you hate. So think hard, buy fast!
Do update me!!:D

Jolene: OMG! Have it been so long?? Was it the FP gathering from eons ago??! Man.. time flies. I hope u n ur fren are doing well & God bless u!
:)

**Edited to add:

Rachel: I loved my La Mer Eye Concentrate though I have to admit that it cost me an arm & leg. To cut costs, I alternate my high-end products with similar drugstores ones. I am also using Garnier Eye Roll-On inbetween.
But do rem, good habits does count! Aim to sleep for at least 8 hrs, avoid late night clubbing, drinking & smoking - else even the most expensive stuff in the world wouldnt help you. ;)

Thats all, girlies.. I've off to watch my ultimate favourite guilty reality pastime - Life in the Fabulous Lane by Kimora Lee Simmons!

I love her to death, she's a Model, a Mogul and best of all.. she's a Mum.

THE KLS WEBPAGE

Previously a supermodel, she was muse to Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel when she was just 13 yrs old.
She grew up, retired and was once married to music legend Russell Lee.
Previously a creative director in Baby Phat, she has since taken over being CEO after Russell stepped down.

She's really hilarious, and being half Japanese African American - she has such a glamorous unique look.
Her favourite made-up word is 'Fabulosity' and she believes in living life to the fullest.
She now owns the Baby Phat empire & is also a single mum to two young girls under 10.

I find her so utterly amazing, she's such an inspiration to me.
Sometimes I wish I could be just like her.
:)

But my life is mini-fabulous already and I cant be more grateful.
Take care everyone - and have a blessed, blessed week.

BFFs
Written at Saturday, April 18, 2009 | back to top

Do you have a BFF*?
Or do u not believe in friends?
:(

Im extremely blessed to have 3 best friends who cry, laugh & bitch with me.
Regardless of each others' shortcomings & strengths, I do treasure them and they will always have a very special place in my heart.

We realised how different we each are, but somehow the four of us can talk forever and I trust them with my life.

Having one BFF is great, but having three BFFs is like having a Chanel bag 3x!
ROFL.

One is enough usually, but 3 is plenty fun!

They share my secrets with me, they watch movies with me and eat sinfully delicious ice-cream with me.

But p.s if u dunno already.. our defination of BFF* is not er.. quite the normal kind.
BFF* = Bad Friends Forever.

Coz we sometimes do evil things to each other!
:p

Recent dinner outings with my girly pals.

Ajisen

We had a long dinner at Ajisen's and then it was Haagen Daaz for ice-cream and laughing til the shops close.

Hua has a new job and we were estastic.
Wen has a new boyfriend and we ate all the green tea ice-cream on her behalf!

So the next time we meet.. I betcha we BFFs will force Wen to eat more for the outings she missed!
Force feeeeeeed her..

(Told ya we're evil.)

Say Cheeze

Last night was dinner at Tampines 1, Say Cheeze.
We ate so much we were nearly late for our movie!

Poor BFF Miko had to literally run to the ticketing booth for our tickets.
I half-ran, half-walked.. - Hua run also machiam walk.
(Read: SLOW.)

Kidding.
We managed to catch the movie, and we spent the rest of the fabulous evening laughing.

Then it was back home sweet home to Jungle Boy and ordering Macdonald's for supper.

But I'll always treasure my memories with my pals and I do hope we'll be together making fun of each other even til we grow old n have our own families.
:)

Coz who better than them to look at pretty Chanel bags with me?
(N I know one of my BFF wants to buy one very badly after the movie yesterday! Hahaha!)

Take care everyone, 3 posts in a day!
Blog post diarrhea.

Sorry I ish lor sor today.
:p

sassygirl: The Oxymask is only about 50ml and I realise that I use quite abit to cover my entire face. My La Mer lasts one year with alternate usage n in careful quantities. But the Oxymask finishes quite rapidly, hence with regard to dollars VS usage, I deem it quite an expensive buy.

p.s But dun be mistaken, it doesnt have the same ingredients as La Mer.

Hi, My name is Elaine and Im a shopaholic.
:(

Had the most amazing time with the BFFs last nite, bitching over dinner and poking each other ribs guffawing while watching Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I love them to bits, I really do.
Yes, and even the absent one.. I also love her to death.
:D

But first... pics from way long ago, PARIS!

My ultimate favourite romantic destination.. whimsical buildings, fabulous food and rows and rows of shops that smell like ur brand new leather bag.

I usually walk in, take a deep breath and feel like Im in heaven.

Weird I know, but bags & shoes are my most lethal obsession.
And what more intoxicating than the smell of soft buttery leather?

Sigh.
I need help.

All ya better raise ur hands up too, coz I know Im not alone on this!
:p

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the most prestigious avenue in Paris, France. With its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets in the world, and with rents as high as $1.50 million 1000 square feet of space, it remains the most expensive strip of real estate in Europe.
The name is French for Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is known in France as La plus belle avenue du monde ("The most beautiful avenue in the world").

We went to Galeries Lafayette and its one place in Paris where I would happily open a tent and camp there.

If they allowed me to do so, that is.

Dun laugh at me okie.... if u're a hot-blooded normal girl - chances are, you'll do the same!

In 1893 Théophile Bader and his cousin Alphonse Kahn opened a fashion store in a small haberdasher's shop at the corner of rue La Fayette and the Chaussée d'Antin, Paris. In 1896, the company purchased the entire building at n°1 rue La Fayette and in 1905 the buildings at n°38, 40 et 42, boulevard Haussmann and n°15 rue de la Chaussée d'Antin.

Théophile Bader commissioned Georges Chedanne and then his pupil Ferdinand Chanut to design the layout of the Haussmann location. A glass and steel dome, and Art Nouveau staircases were built in 1912.

When I was younger, I thought about how cool it was to be living in Europe.. how nice the weather is there and how it laidback the lifestyle is.

There is no point rushing, the people do things in their own sweet time and its useless to complain cos no one will even take you seriously.

You somehow go with the flow, count to ten and realise that why do you even want it be so fast in the first place?

The europeans take hours to do dinner, and I can slurp mine down in 10 mins flat.
:(

I think I should take time and smell the roses.
Life does seem to be great, afterall.

I realise we hurry hurry hurry too much and we dun see the small details around us.

Have u ever taken time to smile at the road sweeper?
Have u ever stopped and say thank you to the auntie who cleans the toilet?

Sigh.
I dun do it all the time, but I'm sure gonna start trying.

The recent Geylang Serai case made me wonder why life could be so fragile.
One last meal and never to be awoken from a coma.. God, thats bloody scary.

If I ever were to breathe my last breath one day, I want to do it without regrets - to leave blissfully, and not to grieve over matters that I didnt do.
Or did for that matter.

If I could only go back in time.
Maybe I would have done things alot differently.

Words that I should have never said, people that I would have never hurt.
Matters that I would finish, the neverending errands I would run.

And maybe I would have got that Suhali bag I never gotten around to buying.
:p

I awoke to birds chirping when I was in LA and it was such a refreshing feeling.
:)

And so, I digress, hee.

Paris would be like the home I never had.. but simply too far to attain right now.
If I could find the time.. one day I'll take up French and dream the dream I never had to courage to do.

To stop everything & live in France for a year.

But right now, I could only live my dream through my french purses.
So silly, right?
:)

C'est la vie, everyone.
Whats your dream?

There was nobody at home - Jungle Boy working, BFFs working, whole world working today.

So I walked to the nearest food centre, plonked myself down and ordered a teh-peng*.
I read the papers from front to back and this is totally random but complete shiokness.

Sometimes its nice to sit in ur own little bubble while the whole world simply whizz by.

Written at | back to top

Twoooooo more days til the removal of my driving P plate!
Yipeeee.. its been such a hell of ride, man.

From the taking of tests, to the going for lessons to the practical test day I can still remember every detail vividly.
No fun at all.

I can still recall waking up at 6am just to make it for the first lesson, I remember running in the rain to the car in Ubi, I even remember how my instructor scolded me for driving recklessly.
(Sometimes I still do I think!)

Why do they make it so difficult to get a licence in Singapore ah?
The waiting of ur BT, FT, and the booking of lessons..to the test date- so bloody troublesome.

But strangely driving has given me patience, sometimes I even purposely give way to the car infront of me just to see the reaction of the driver behind.
It makes me chuckle to see grown men angry just becoz I let someone else cut in.
:)

And I've also be given a new found respect to taxi drivers on the road, although they could be annoyingly abrupt at times, its not easy driving 12 hrs straight just to put food on the table.

I drive from the east to central and I ish pek ciat already.

God bless and to all drivers on the road, drive safe.
Take care.

skincare II
Written at Wednesday, April 8, 2009 | back to top

Helloooo everyone! :)

Aiyo u gals are really the sweetest little things ever! *hug*
Thank u so much for all the lovely tags - and duncha worry, Im not at least affected by what other people say.

Coz I is thick-skinned as thick-skinned can be.
:p

Moving on abit, here's a skincare post that I've been wanting to do like, forever.
If u have been reading, I've done one sometime ago and this is a slightly more infomative one, with additional products & some old favorites.

And its proven and tested, coz I do this everyday.. keke.

For the girls who know me, I believe you remember that Im more into skincare and great skin, than makeup and covering flaws with makeup.

Hence the emphasise on skincare and skincare routines.
I dun normally have facials coz I am obsessively paranoid that beauticians look at us like carrot-heads and they usually have only one sole ambition in mind - To make us sign package.

I cannot start to tell you how much I absolutely abhor that two words.

Going for a facial/massage/spa should be a form of relaxation.
It should be kinda like having a break away from the hustle & bustle of the city, no?

But after trying my best to attain nirvana during a treatment, the only thing I can remember is, "U WAN SIGN PACKAGE?" and leaving the salon with a very bad taste in my mouth.

Henceforth, I do my own facials and step into a facial place unless absolutely necessary.

Like, when my pores threaten to overthrow me with a blackhead coup.

When I was younger (note: how I emphasize the word younger coz I am still young, haha!) I would never touch a toner with a pole.
Maybe I hated how redundant it is, or how the ones with alcohol seem to zap me into reality by stinging my skin.

But now I realise that it is part of my skincare regime and how important it if for girls who use makeup.
But more on that later.
:)

The start of everybody's daily routine, I believe in proper cleansing as a clean slant for ur makeup.
U may use a simple drugstore brand and for girls who dun even wear makeup, do you know that u may even use warm water to splash ur face and it is enough?

Do not wash ur face more than twice a day.
Our skin need natural oils to functon properly.

If u feel oily during the day, either splash some cold water to freshen up, or like me - I like spritzing my face with rose water as a quick pick-me-up.
It doesnt ruin my makeup and I use a piece of tissue paper to lightly blot my skin after the rose water.

Some products I like using as a facial wash are:

and

I also like Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Wash.

Step 1: WASH

Lather up foam.
Do not put cleansing gel/lotion/soup directly to face.
Place in hand and add water, applying foam to face.

Gently lather face with foam.
Using circular movements, very gently go over eye area but strictly no rubbing.

Rinse with warm water.
(Cold water if u need a perk)

TIP: Take a face towel, submerge it in hot water and wring out excess. Put over face for 3 mins to imitate steaming process in facial procedures. It opens up ur pores, making it easier if u prefer to extract blackheads urself.

Step 2: TONER

I use this.

I have never believed how important toners are until recently when I realise that my skin is not turning-over as quickly as it did in the past.

Exfoliating does wonder for ur skin but can be harsh if done too frequently.
Using a toner is the best way to gently remove the top layer of ur skin and they finish off the cleansing process.
Some reports also say that toners ensure that ur skin is of a proper pH level for moisturisers.

U might even see the cotton pad turn a shade darker when u first start using a toner.
It will gradually turn lighter if u stick to the regime of using a toner everyday.
:)

I use half a cotton pad for my own face to save alittle money!
Hee.

TIP:
Cut up cotton pads neatly in half. Usually it is sufficient for ur face.
Place toner n cotton pads in bathroom sink and use immediately after u wash ur face and when it is still damp.
(Use after hot towel and blackhead extraction to tighten pores)

Step 3: SKII FACIAL TREATMENT ESSENCE

LOL, ok truthfully.. this is my step n u might not agree with me.

There are usually only two camps of people, pro-SKII & anti-SKII.
And I like my SKII actually.

I also like this.

I would usually pour afew drops into the palm of my hands and pat into my face.
However, if u are using Kose Sekkisei Lotion, u may also use it as a toner.
(Refer to step 2)

This two products brightens my skin tone and improve overall glow.

TIP: Pour lotion into cotton pads and place on face as a mask as follow.

Step 4: MOISTURISE

Remember, I have dehydrated skin so do test a product before u commit to it full-time.

EYES:

I am trying out drugstore brands becoz most of the ingredients found in drugstore brands are similar to those of high-end ones.

And I was very interested in Garnier's eye roll-on which I'd personally thought was a brillant idea.

I found it pretty good for its price and it was easy to apply without any mess, and it also eliminated the need of dipping my fingers into jars.

However, I did not find it hydrating enough and it did not lessen my eye circles.
I also like to use my fourth finger to tap the essence under my eyes.

FACE:

I have been using this for years and I dun care what others might say but I really do love my La Mer.

The trick is to rub it into the palms of ur hands and lightly pat it in.
Do not ever rub ur moisturiser in ur face.

I also like this.
The Sisley Ecological Compound is a very basic moisturiser and I love the smell.

U may lightly massage ur face every night when u apply ur moisturiser, but the trick is to do it gently.
Over-stimulation on the face may even cause more harm than good.
It is also advisable not to massage face if u have acne.

Do not forget about ur neck.

NIGHT TIME:

I use a special product from Clarins thrice every week to combat the dryness on my cheeks.

Its basically very concentrated oil and not for the faint-hearted coz it does make u look alittle oily but I love how my skin glows the next morning.
This is not meant to be used too often (For a weeek max) and I skip my nose when I use this.

FACIAL MASK

I like my Watson's Bird Nest Masks for a quick hydrating treatment and I would usually read a magazine or a book & try to relax while I mask.

I have been using Beauty Talk OxyMask once a week and I do like the results although I find it pretty expensive.
(Around $100 @ Sasa Shops)

It starts off like a gel but as u massage it into ur skin, it would turn foamy.
Leave it on for 10 mins then rinse off.

It reveals brighter-looking skin and it does make ur skin alittle QQ after use.
:)

Do click on it if u would like to see the product being featured on Nu Ren Wo Zui Da.

I sincerely hope u enjoyed this post!

Take care all, and remember, a happy healthy you will have happy healthy skin!
:D

God bless.

Hi everyone!
Sorry for the lack of updates coz I've been quite under the weather recently.
It started with a sore throat then it gradually became a very bad runny nose and some body-aches.
And I couldnt really do anything except net surfing coz it made me rather drowsy from all the medication that I was taking.

I'm feeling much better now but still coughing alittle and when I talk, I sound like a man.
Hee.

But all this time that I spent recuperating was anything but a waste.

Unbeknownst to me, there were some talk in cyberspace that people were saying which wasnt extremely flattering to me.

(Hi ladygaga!*waves*)

True, I felt hurt at first.

But I realised that it was quite real actually, so angry for what?
N not only that, I agreed with some of the things they said.

I mean - my pouffy hair.. my drag queen like makeup.. what-not etc, quite irritating also la.
So now I am really trying to tone it down alittle, throw away some (SOME ONLY AH!) of my fake lashes and dun be so Marge Simpson anymore.
:)

Thank you, girls.
I took it all in - no problemo.
;)

But some things will never change, ok?

I will still post up pictures of myself, and I can't change the fact that Jungle Boy does really like me for who I am.
(Maybe he is reeeeally that bad taste. LOL)

Oh btw Im 27, n he worse ah, 35 already so we can bloody stay with whomever we like even if we're not married.

And my parents have given us their blessings coz got people want their shortie daughter, they ish happy liao.
:D

And I dunno how to photoshop leh, so I cant make my nose sharper n not so Piggy-like...sigh.
Coz I really dun wanna scare people if they see me in person and realise I look nothing like how I look like in my blog.

But regardless, I still need to thank some of you out there for dropping by..
Thank you!
:D

Ok, finally the very cliche and the very hated..

God bless all.

Have a great day!
