LongBar Steakhouse

Monday, December 03, 2012

Sometime last month after our Bedrock & Bar experience, the hubs & I decided to have dinner at Raffles Hotel Longbar Steakhouse.
Located on the 2nd storey of Raffles Hotel Arcade, adjacent to the world-famous Long Bar, - Long Bar Steakhouse offers grilled prime cuts of Australian and US beef, quality seafood and a tantalising selection of cold and hot appetisers, and an extensive selection of old and new world wines.
I like the bread here! It was served promptly and was deliciously warm when it came.
They also have am in-house sommelier on duty every night to advise you on wine pairing. He was extremely courteous and very detailed, and I did enjoy my red wine that evening.
But my husband, true to his nature ; can never resist beer!
I was actually craving for escargots so it was something I had to order!
Each of us had half dozen each!
And yes, this was the star of the night
Extremely delicious, with a whiff of garlic butter when it arrived at the table!
I enjoyed the escargots but the oysters was slightly more of a let-down, especially after the staff forgot all about it even when the restaurant was hardly full.
The hubs had the trio plate of steak, along with 2 choices of side - which he chose.
Unfortunately, we only enjoyed 1 out of the 3 steaks that night. The other two was slightly tough and slightly overdone. (We asked for a medium rare, but came more medium well instead.)
I had the lamb chops but I found the portion extremely small. The taste however, was great as the seasoning and done-ness of the lamb well-executed.
Right after dinner, we adjourned to one of our favourite bars in town, the Long Bar.
Home of the Singapore Sling, the earthy decor of this two-storey bar was inspired by the Malayan plantations of the 1920s. In addition to almost every alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions imaginable, the bar also serves traditional pub favourites that are available as a meal or snacks. But do try the Singapore Sling if you drop by!
The best place to order the world famous Singapore Sling becoz true to its reputation, this is the only place that makes the drink truly delicious! The free flow of peanuts in a wooden box add on to the colonial charm of the decor here ... coz you can throw the peanut shells on the floor (as like everyone here!)
It was an enjoyable way to end the evening, but I would choose not to return to the Steakhouse for dinner. The Singapore Sling alone makes me a really happy girl. :)
Have a great start to the week! Im still in Melbourne and its freezing here!
Take care! xoxoxo
