Yesterday a kind reader informed me that one of the products that I have previously reviewed, called "Bonjour Bonsoir" might have gotten into a bit of trouble with the authorities.
Alarmed, I decided to find out more and have realized that the "Bonjour - Morning Sachets" was recently detected by the HSA (Health Sciences Authority Singapore) to contain undeclared sibutramine on the 27th of June. Sibutramine was previously licensed as a prescription-only medicine for the treatment of obesity but the sale of sibutramine have been suspended in Singapore in Oct 2010.
It was only through HSA's laboratory testing, that the product mentioned was found to contain sibutramine, which was not declared on the products' labels.
I have immediately removed the blog review and side banner and would like to apologize to everyone for the inconvenience and possible distress caused.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions and for more information, I have included the HSA link below.
There are a total of FOUR brands mentioned in the above link and I strongly urge you to take a look at the list and share it with any one you know that might be consuming these products.
Once again, I do apologize for the inconvenience caused to my readers.
Reminder: Due to the potential adverse effects of sibutramine found in the four slimming products, HSA advises consumers to stop the use of these products immediately and to consult their doctors if they feel unwell after taking these products or have other concerns about their health.
If you have acne-prone skin, I recommend washing your brushes and sponges daily or at least, 3x a week to prevent bacterial growth and cross-contamination. Or use disposable sponges if possible. However, this is such a real time consuming practice .. I know!
I personally wash my most regular brushes weekly and here's a quick tip : Bring it in the shower with you. Dry it at night so that you can use it the next morning.
For the rest of my under-utilized makeup brushes - here's what I do.
I do a mini spring clean in my room from time to time to get rid of clutter and rubbish, so when I saw my brush container - they were so messy! I have TOO MANY makeup brushes for my own good and I decided to clean them and keep those that I don't use as frequently away.
Use normal temperature water in your sink.
Some people prefer to use specific brush cleaning agents but I just use any shampoo that I like. As long as you rinse them out properly, there shouldn't be any problem.
Edited to add : I look like im drowning my brushes here but its because I wanted to wash the handles too. I dun recommend doing it frequently at all but only because these are dusty brushes n I wanted to wash them, bristles n handles, all! I hate thinking how dirty they are.
Here I am using the Marc Anthony Brillant Color Shampoo coz I like the smell, hehehe.
Use a good amount of shampoo for your brushes.
And soon you should be able to see the water changing color!
Take each individual brush and apply more shampoo on the bristles directly.
Clean it in a circular motion and rinse out all traces of shampoo with cold water when done.
Taking a old towel at home, dry your brushes
This is an additional step .. but not necessary.
In between washes, I have a handy Elf Anti-Bacterial Alcohol spray to sanitize my makeup brushes. This also prolongs the use of my makeup brushes and I bought this on sale so I find it a rather good buy. Simply spray and air dry.
Place brushes in a well-ventilated area but away from direct sunlight.
Remember to wash your makeup containers too!
Wipe dry and leave it to air
Once they are all dry, choose what you would use and keep away the rest neatly.
( Touch them to make sure the bristles are completely dry)
I prefer to keep them in a covered pouch and place away in drawer neatly.
And you're done!
This takes just awhile and perhaps you can do it this weekend? Heehehe.
Now my makeup table is not so cluttered, and if I ever need to use a brush - I know that its nice and clean in the pouch.
Hope you enjoyed this little post!
Now off to shower and do my makeup ... meeting my girls at an event later!
In between writing reviews and catching up on my #forever backlog events ... I love to post snippets of my personal pictures! Hahahaha! Im not sure if anyone here wants to see them .. but these are great ways to remember those lovely (and super hilarious) moments ..
It wasn't actually GT's birthday but it was pretty akan datang *coming soon and we were at supper so we decided to do drinks. Evil or what.
We all bought the Sodastream machine after seeing it at Savour and we wanted to TEST DRIVE it. Ya, right at the restaurant. Can?
But the problem was .....
We naughtily added WHISKEY in!
You know how after a race, - the winning driver would shake the champagne bottle vigorously and proceed to pop it?
And then what will happen?
Something like that lor.
THERE WERE WHISKEY + WATER + BUBBLES EVERYWHERE
So mission whiskey champagne #fail
So just pour the bloody whiskey in the glass ba!!
In beer mugs AND shot glasses
And proceed to do beer whiskey submarine!
T, your turn
And drink up ... guys!
Specially carved tomato for the red face tomato birthday boy
And a picture ode to ME!
*Twist, smile-act-cute, instagrammmmm*
It was such a funny night! I can't rem how many submarines we did that day.. Anyways in the end, we realized that you should never ever put anything besides water in your Sodastream.
Coz I have this constant craving for LaduréeMacarons!
The last time I tried them was in Paris, donkey donkey years ago and I didn't like them one bit.
"Too sweet, too expensive, not cake .. etc" and nobody made them in Singapore!
How my tastes evolved since.
Ladurée is a maker of luxury cakes and pastries.
It is known as the inventor of the double-decker macaron, fifteen thousand of which are sold every day. They are still one of the best known makers of macarons in the world. - source Wiki.
I know they came to Singapore and had a huge turnout, with snaking queues of up to an hour just for these precious pastel color meringues. But I couldn't imagine what the deal was .. until my Lesbo and I had coffee in town so she went in to buy some and generously shared them with me.
And then I was hooked.
Look at these BABIES!
I love the Rose ones the most .. since I love everything Rose!
Now Im just plotting my next chance to go Orchard and get more.....
Bad for my diet, bad for my pocket .. but great for my souuuul.
