Lululemon Community Class with Updogstudio

[Yoga] Hi guys! With the on-going renovations and repair works going on at my place, the only great thing that came out of it is how I could finally find some decent time to sit down and catch up on my posts. But the bad thing is that I've been missing out on my regular yoga practice and could only make it to the 7.30am classes before the workers come for the day. Gosh, how I miss my regular yoga practices. Can't wait to head to Hot Hatha soon. If you have not seen my recent post on how I picked up Yoga and where I practice it : Click Here
About two months ago, Lululemon Athletica Inc. - a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company which recently opened its doors in their new East Coast shophouse space and I was glad to be able to attend a community class (*Complimentary yoga classes taught by various yoga teachers from different yoga studios in the Lululemon showroom) taught by Betty from Updog Studio! Betty is one of my biggest yoga inspirations so I was elated to be there.
Betty Kong - Yoga Instructor & Co-Founder of Updog Studio
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Betty discovered yoga in her university years and it was love at first sight. Since then, yoga has given her strength, courage, love, and light. Betty completed her first 500 hours training in 2005 with Jessica Robertson and Ted Grand of Moksha Yoga in Toronto, Canada. She also completed Yin Yoga training with Paul Grillley and is also a certified Pre/Postnatal Yoga teacher from Dr. Jean Byrne from Australia. Since attending Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa Level Two training in Kenya during July of 2013, Betty is deeply inspired and empowered by the work and people of the Africa Yoga Project. She believes the yoga we do on our yoga mat is only a part of our practice. and our true yoga practice starts when we take our yoga off the mat.
Lululemon East Coast
I was so excited to take a peek at the new Lululemon East Coast situated at Joo Chiat Road and even more so to be attending a Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa class by Betty! It was Lululemon East Coast's inaugural community class and we were so excited to 'break into' the studio!
Lulelumon East Coast Showroom
The Lululemon East Coast showroom is modern and minimalist with yoga wear neatly folded on shelves or on the racks. There are three small changing rooms for you to try the sizes on. When there is a Yoga community class going on, participators un-roll their mats (Lululemon mats are provided but feel free to bring your own) and set up for class. Its really that simple!
Here's a short video of the class that day!
Enjoy!
It was a great turnout with fellow yogis who all came together for a morning of hot, sweaty fun!
I enjoyed myself immensely and it was good to have made new friends at the community class. Even though we may be practicing in different yoga studios, or have diverse yoga experiences but I felt that this class brought us together to appreciate what yoga is truly about.
Hope you enjoyed the short video and for more information, do head to : http://info.lululemon.co.nz/singapore/eastcoast/ for community classes schedule. To book a mat, you have to email them in advance as classes fill up rather quickly. Thanks Lululemon East Coast for the opportunity, and for letting us film!
Thank you Betty from Updog Studio for the wonderful class once again!
