Background Story : BLACK PAINT began with a mother's love and the search for inner and outer health for her daughter. It took much scientific study, but in the end her quest led to restored health for her child ... and a line of organic skincare that enhances the body's own renewal and self-protection processes instead of fighting them.
BLACK PAINT®, an organic skincare brand established in Kyoto 15 years ago by Myyuki Co.Ltd. Since ancient times, plant oil treatments have been taught to be a secret to beautiful skin.
Based on this concept, BLACK PAINT® skincare products are made from natural, organic materials which are blended from more than 100 types of plant oils, more than 50 types of essential oils, Kishu Bichotan Charcoal that suitable for various skin and body parts.
As intrigued as I was by the unique cleansing steps and organic ingredients that the Black Paint soap cleanser and skincare products has, I am even more moved with the touching story of how Black Paint came about! Read more here : http://blackpaint.sg/pages/about-us#brand
4 Simple Steps to Clean Skin : Step 1 Black Paint Soap
To make things easier, I decided to show you pictorial steps on how to use the Black Paint Soap in the above illustration. For more instructions, you can head to : http://blackpaint.sg/pages/4-steps-pore-care
Black Paint Soap
There are 4 steps to simple pore care, but the star product in the Black Paint skincare range is obviously - The Black Paint Soap.
A gentle pore cleansing hand-made face soap with Kishu Bichotan Charcoal (White Charcoal) cleans pores and removes oil and dirt thoroughly but gently without stripping away skin’s essential moisture, leaving skin fresh and silky smooth.
To use : Soak soap in warm water and apply directly to skin, avoiding getting soap in eyes. Massage face gently and rinse off with warm water. Leave soap on open dish in an airy area to prolong usage.
There's a comprehensive instruction leaflet included and I found it very informative. It also answered my queries and taught me how to use the soap properly even though I missed the demo at the media event.
Kishu Bicotan Charcoal is considered to be the best grade because it is hard and yields a long burn. Known as the best quality charcoal for purifying water and air, the variety of benefits of Bichotan charcoal can be found in a number of everyday uses. Whether it is used to absorb chemicals in tap water, enhance blood circulation in a hot bath, stimulate healthy soil in the garden, or deflect negative ions in your home, the environmental and chemical-free charcoal is the natural way to boost overall wellness.
How Black Paint Works :
The Black Paint soap's unique combination of plant oils, silk, honey, and super absorbent charcoal allows both water-soluble and lipid-soluble materials to gently, naturally and completely glide away, leaving the skin fresh and clear of all cosmetics as well as dirt and excess skin oils.
The Test
Here's a quick collage on using the Black Paint Soap! Wet soap with warm water and apply on face. It doesnt really matter if ur face is damp or dry, but I prefer doing it on a dry face. Im not so sure about it removing my makeup because I tend to use a makeup remover before I use the Black Paint Soap. Due to the nature of the soap (it is black and slightly messy) - I use this as a deep cleanse 2-3x a week or whenever I feel like my skin is congested. So far I have not broken out from the soap although there are warnings by the brand that there are instances of skin purging when starting on the Black Paint skin regime. *Edited to add : Keep the soap in a soap dish (with holes) and put in airy place (so it dries when not in use) as I find that this prolongs the usage of the soap. At $49.90, I would prefer to use it as long as possible~ LOL.
One thing to note : Whatever you do ... AVOID getting the Black Paint soap into your eyes. In fact, I try to avoid opening my eyes when I use this.
Black Konjac Sponge
A 100% natural facial sponge made from vegetable fibre, Kishu Binchotan charcoal (White charcoal) and various minerals that enhance absorptive ability, helps removing excess oil and dead skin cells in the most delicate manner.
Helps eliminates blackhead, dirt and oil. Effectively clean the pores of the skin
The KONJAC SPONGE is the perfect tool for cleansing your face with BLACK PAINT soap, but can also be used without a cleanser. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin and is ideal for those with oily skin and acne.
The Test
Here's what I like about Black Paint. You can choose to use the Black Pain soap ALONE or with the Black Konjac Sponge. Personally I like to use it without the sponge, but I find that using the sponge allows me to wash off the cleanser easier, and it really gives me silky smooth skin after. Do note that I have quite sensitive skin, so I use the Black Konjac Sponge sparingly although it is said to be suitable for all skin types. 2-3 times a week is suffice for sensitive skin types, so I would advise you to use it according to your own skin type and preferences. *Edited to Add : Unfortunately I broke out alittle after using the Konjac Sponge coz I think its too abrasive for my sensitive skin. I had the same outcome after using another Konjac sponge so I think its just my skin.
After
I love how clean my face feels!
Step 2 : Best Water Toner
Best Water Toner
A pore-minimizing toner that contains 30 types of minerals that deeply penetrates the skin (epidermis) to nourish and help restore skin's natural barrier to prevent moisture loss.
Deeply nourish skin from the 30 types of natural minerals such as Potassium and Magnesium leaving skin feeling significantly soft and supple. Instantly hydrates skin and helps preserve its moisture balance. It also helps improve skin texture and minimize pores after cleansing.
The Test
Black Paint encourages using Best Water Toner right after every Black Paint soap wash as this lotion is perfectly suited to penetrate deeply into the stratum corneum (the skin's outer layer) to tighten pores and support the skin's own moisture retention barrier. This toner has zero alcohol, no fragrance and artificial colorants so it was very safe for me to use on my sensitive skin. I like how soothing it is although I didnt find it particularly moisturizing or anything. Need to use a moisturizer right after to combat dry skin. It is also recommended to use this as a moisture mask with an organic cotton mask if you need a hydration boost. (I have not tried it as a mask yet, though)
Step 3 : Oil Water Rose Lotion
Oil Water Rose Lotion
A dual-layer emulsion that regenerates, protects, soothes, and soften the skin keeping skin soft, supple, radiant and young-looking, while a delicious rose scent uplifts the spirit
Top layer of organic plant oils moisturize and soften skin, Bottom layer of Damask Rose Water provides extra vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to skin. The Rose essential oil improves fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging including pigmentation. Antioxidant vitamin C which found in rose essential oil helps repair discolored skin and provide anti-inflammatory properties that treat redness & wounds. No emulsifiers, surfactants or preservatives. Damask Rose scent provides aromatherapy effects during use.
The Test
One of my favorite products from the range! I was instantly attracted to the bottle, no less (Pinky-Red Rose motifs) and I love anything ROSE! At first I was concerned about the oil in the formula, (I generally tend to stay away from anything with oil ingredients or oil-based products) but the Oil Water Rose Lotion is surprisingly light and did not break me out. Shake before use and it goes on like a toner but it did provide a good level of hydration and moisture to my skin. I like this product and use it 2-3x a week after using my Black Paint soap/Best Water toner.
Step 4 : Water Cream Moisturizer
Water Cream Moisturizer
A water-based moisturizing cream that diminishes visible pores, protects your skin from dryness and maintains moisture all day long. By filling the skin with moisture, it builds resistance from outdoor environments as well as creates a smoother and more refined skin texture.
Contains Morroco’s Argan Oil which improves skin metabolism and promotes moisture retention. The combination of 7 different types of flower oil and polymeric silicon form a protective veil against external environment. Natural ingredients provides anti-oxidative effects. Helps maintain skin moisture and gives makeup long-lasting finish. There are no alcohol, fragrances and artificial colorants. Soothingly scented with Lavender oil.
WATER CREAM, which also has argan oil and 7 more organic plant oils, - makes use of these ingredients for additional protection and moisture, restoring the skin's own youthful capability to resist drying agents from both within and without. Use it as a make-up base during the day and a moisturizing cream at night.
The Test
I had good vibes about this product as it was very light, super smooth and has a light lavender scent when applied. I like how smooth my skin feels right after using this and the small convenient spatula that the tub comes with is a nice touch. (I hate digging my fingers in any jar or tube for hygiene purposes esp with the length of my nails) However, I am sadly sensitive (which I have earlier discovered with another skincare product) to its star ingredient - Argan Oil so I had a pimple or two right after use and have ceased to use this on my face. Works fine on my neck, though!
Once again, thank you Black Paint for your products and I have to say that I did enjoy using them and doing this small review coz I wanted to share them truly. :)
*Edited to Note : It is recommended to use the Black Paint skincare range solely (no mixing) for 28 days to maximize results, however it is ok to use the soap and sponge with other skincare brands if preferred.
