Have you seen it before?

Actually I have seen it before when I was in Taiwan but at that time I was extremely deterred by the price.. one mask is around S$20!!! And one box has ONLY 03 pieces of mask! It is a real extravagant buy, ain't it! 

About the brand

I know that ForBelovedOne is sold in Sephora, so armed with my Sephora Member card - I went to the store to check it out. Fortunately (or unfortunately, hahaha) I had initially wanted to purchase only one box of the ForBelovedOne Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask at $63/-, but there was a limited edition Travel Set going for $189 and it comes with 03 boxes of the Whitening masks + 01 box of the hydration masks, in addition to a chic silver travel case.

The Before Picture

Steps for Masking 

For an effective masking routine - I would generally advise everyone to :

1. Scrub - To get rid of dead skin cell build up

2. Steam - To loosen and open pores for effective absorption of Mask

3. Mask and relax!

The Products 

Step One : Scrub

This Lioele Oxygen Foam Mask was a chance buy that I came across while looking for a good Oxygen Foaming Mask to replace my old one from Shills. I think it was rather cheap as it was on sale and I remember paying around S$20++ for it (after discount). 

I really like the convenience of this product and its so gentle, I can use this almost everyday even when  I have sensitive skin. This is not a traditional 'scrub' with beads but an alternative to getting rid of skin build-up without being abrasive to skin. The foaming action gets rid of my dead skin cells and brightens my complexion quickly. I use it about 3x a week and when Im in a rush - I actually use this before I head to the shower to quickly give my skin an oxygen boost.

Simply pump the nozzle a couple of times and you get a thick, milky kind of liquid.

On your clean face, simply apply to skin avoiding eye area.

It will start to 'foam' almost immediately, so try to apply it evenly and quickly!

Leave it on for 3 mins and after the foam dissipates, you are almost done!

Step Two : Steam

 I dun do regular facials but I use a steamer at home to mimic the ones at facials to 'open' my pores and provide deeper cleansing/scrub. 

This Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer is a new item that is on loan to me (more on that later) for review purposes and I actually do like it alot!

Unlike my old steamer, this Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer is extremely sleek in design, as well as being compact. The color is soothing to the eyes and it looks great on my vanity table.

But most importantly, the one touch On/Off switch is extremely convenient and safe to use. My hands are usually wet (with scrubs/lotions/oils) so I dun like to touch electrical appliances but this was a breeze to use! 

Steaming Process

With the remaining Lioele Oxygen Foaming Mask on my face, I use the steam from the Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer and lightly massage my face.

Nano water particles reaches the deepest layer of keratin to achieve deep moisture retention for skin. This stimulates growth of collagen & increase quantity of collagen

Step Three : Mask 

Upon opening my ForBelovedOne Travel Set.

I took out the ForBelovedOne Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask box and each box contains 03 pieces of mask. 

They are clear instructions in English and Mandarin at the back of each mask, along with the ingredient list. There is also a small picture description on how to apply the mask.

Upon opening, I did not get a strong whiff of fragrance but I could see that the mask is soaked richly in essence.

When I took out the mask - I found it HEAVY!

Unlike other masks which has been soaked in clear serum, this ForBelovedOne Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose Mask is drenched in thick, white cream-like essence. I promptly used some on my hands lol.

As I un-folded the mask, I realized why its so heavy.. there are THREE layers of it!

Instructions on how to apply the mask :

1. Take the elastic and transparent bio-cellulose mask in the middle.

2. Apply the wet side (the one adhesive to semi-transparent paper foil) on face.

3. Take off the mask after 15-20 minutes. 

No need to rinse and continue regular skin care procedure.

Initial Review : There is a layer of mask in between the two sheets and this is the famous Translucent Bio-Cellulose Mask. Put simply, this is not your common sheet mask that feels like cotton or fiber. This has a rubbery, almost gelatin-like feel to the mask that would help adhere to the skin even with movement. Lets try it out!

I quickly placed the mask over my face and I find that its rather big for my face shape. However, the mask really DOES NOT slip off even when I am standing upright. I realize that this mask comes with additional eye 'flaps' for your eye area, so its a plus point for me as I find that most masks neglect the eye area. The material of the mask made my skin feel cool and I cant help but think that it would be extra shiok to place this in the fridge and use it on hot summer days while relaxing with a book.

Overall Review :

I had some difficulty trying to understand the badly translated English mask application instructions, but I reckoned as long as I had the Bio-Cellulose Mask on my face, that should be alright lol. The hefty price is a big con, but the sales assistant explained that unlike other masks - this is meant to be used once every 7-10 days. That means I do not have to mask as often to get the full effects of the mask. After I removed the mask I found my skin tone to be extremely fair, about 2 full shades lighter! And my skin felt smooth and hydrated. My pores looked smaller and looked plump with moisture. 

**Update**

The "fairness" maintained for around 3 days (as stated in the instructions) and although it did not break me out, I had some bumps & whiteheads on my skin which meant that the mask was slightly too 'rich' for my sensitive skin. I think it could also be due to the fact that I had it on for a slightly longer time and I shall keep to 15-20 mins in future. I also found out that I could re-use my mask up to three times within a week. Simply keep the mask in the pack after use and store it in the fridge. Wet it by spraying the Melasleep Whitening Treatment Serum or Melasleep Whitening Treatment Awakening Serum before the next mask treat. This means I could double or triple use the mask before I throw it away.

Will I recommend it?

Yes .. yes and YES! If money is not going to stop you from buying it .. and whitening is your main concern.. please do! It has average hydration results, but full marks for whitening so if you have slightly dry skin, do remember to follow up with your normal hydrating skincare.
